Request a lawyer immediately
Memorize the phone number of legal assistance you can trust.
Do NOT sign any documents
Do not sign any documents without consulting with an attorney
Do NOT open the door unless
ICE or the police present a valid warrant. It must include a judge’s signature, the correct name, and the correct address—if these are missing or incorrect, it’s invalid.
Document everything

Never use fake names or documents
Using false information can lead to serious legal consequences.
Know your protections in sensitive locations
Schools, churches, and hospitals are generally considered “sensitive locations” where ICE enforcement is limited.
Understand your due process rights
Most immigrants are entitled to a hearing before an immigration judge prior to deportation.
Always attend immigration court
Even if you don’t yet have a lawyer, missing court can result in an automatic deportation order.
